Tory von Bergen’s (Tory Thomas) art has been described as deeply Australian with a unique contemporary dreamlike emotive landscape taking the viewer into and through the layers of the canvas.

A certain hum of intuitive knowledge of place exists in the balance of line and colour, perhaps an opportunity for the viewer to embark into another world wandering through time and space, earth and sky.

The process of creating a work comes from a simultaneous connection with the resonance within the artist and her environment, from music or meditations and the sound and sights of nature to the infinite beauty of stillness.

Inspired By Nature at Billabong

Each painting is layered and reworked with oils, pastels, acrylics and pencils until a depth and harmony create balance yet keeping elements of mystery expressing the essence of the landscape rather than a realistic view.

Her work is sold privately and hangs in the public areas and rooms of Billabong Retreat where she lived with her family for 8 years whilst founding Billabong Retreat.
