Billabong Retreat is a retreat that has been created with love. We can accommodate 20 persons with 16 in twin room cabins plus an additional 4 within walk in tents. There is additional accommodation in 4 double luxury cabins next door at Bingletree Retreat which can be booked separately. www.bingletree.com.au

Situated on 12 acres of stunning natural bush surrounding two beautiful billabongs it is hard to believe the property is only fifty-minutes from Sydney.

Abundant with colourful & vocal native life you can spot hundreds of bird species, albino faced black wallabies, lace monitors, deer, micro-bats, water lizards and at night the whole place throbs to the chorus of frogs and cicada’s.

Bush rock escarpments rise up from the water’s edge with huge boulders creating lovely nooks that are ideal for meditating within nature.

The main centre has been built around two yurt-like circular structures. These have been designed to maximise positive energy flow and the ceilings rise up and feature stained glass tops that allow strands of coloured light to filter through. One yurt is for group practice and the other allows for relaxing, cooking and dining. In between is a large covered and insulated deck that protrudes over the rock escarpment offering views down to the billabongs.

An open yurt beside the large billabong provides for a great practice space during warmer days. Heating throughout is provided by wood combustion and pot belly heaters.

Harmony cottage is a quaint & colourful original federation house. The other cabins nestle in the bush like tree houses on the escarpments edge, each with decks and wonderful bush views.

Other features include sunny north facing lawns, rock-circle fire-pit and walking tracks through the bush and around the water’s edge.

Minimising the environmental impact has been an essential consideration. • Using materials with minimum embodied energy • Timber is plantation pine sourced from well managed forests. • Hardwood doors & windows from Victorian Ash. • Reduced amount of energy intensive steel & concrete used. • Second hand materials & doors / windows used. • All wooden off cuts re-used where possible. • Photovoltaic grid connected solar-power (100% renewable). • Solar heated hot water. • Biolytix worm & bio-filter on-site effluent treatment plant. • All water used is rain water harvested from roofs (with carbon, sediment and UV filters). • Low flow rated toilets, showers and taps. • Grey water system for plants and lawns. • On-site orchard, vegetables, herbs and chickens for eggs.
